Planning & Zoning

Arden Hills planning staff guide development and protect the environment through comprehensive planning and zoning controls that align with city values.

Planning staff members are responsible for the review and management of new developments, subdivisions and redevelopment in the city. Staff coordinate the preparation of a comprehensive plan that lays out the city's long-range plans for:

  • Land use
  • Transportation
  • Parks and open space
  • Housing
  • Sanitary sewer
  • Water
  • Economic development

Staff also provides information and assistance to residents, businesses and developers regarding land use and zoning topics. Within the context of the comprehensive plan, staff administers the City's zoning and subdivision ordinances, which govern how property can be used and divided.

The Community Development Director makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and Arden Hills City Council on all land use issues. The Community Development Director acts as a staff liaison to the Planning Commission.

If you need zoning, land use and/or flood map information for a parcel please call 651-792-7800 and ask to speak with the Community Development Director.
