At the August 11 meeting, the City Council discussed the City issuing a statement similar to the City of Shoreview regarding the safety of immigrants and human rights. Staff was given direction to draft a statement on immigration activities and that this language be forwarded to the City Council for consideration prior to approval at a Council meeting. Following that meeting, a draft statement was routed to Council for comment. Based on the comments received, staff revised the language and is bringing forward a draft statement reflective of Council feedback.
