Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that can seep up from the soil and enter homes. The gas can come through pores, cracks, and floor-wall joints in your home. Winter home heating systems tend to draw in radon gas from the soil, increasing radon levels inside the home during this time of year. The only way to know if you have radon is to test your home. Ramsey County offers a $2 radon test kit so you can protect your family from this harmful gas.
Radon kits can be purchased by sending a completed order form with a check or money order for $2 to the Environmental Health office at 2785 White Bear Ave., Suite 350, Maplewood, MN 55109. Purchased test kits will be mailed to customers’ homes.
Call Ramsey County's Environmental Health office at 651-266-1199 for more information or visit ramseycounty.us/content/january-national-radon-action-month.
