Bethel University Pursuing Senior Living Facility for Anderson Center Property Subdivision

Notice

According to a recent news release, Bethel University is in the process of selling the northwest six acres of the 42-acre Anderson Center property for a senior living facility.

On May 22, it was announced that the Lake Johanna Fire Department is moving forward with a purchase agreement for a new fire station on the northeast 3.7 acres of the Anderson Center Property. The fire department and senior living facility developer are in the due diligence phase for the land purchases.

In April, Bethel University submitted plans to the city to subdivide the northern section of its Anderson Center Property. However, the city does not have an active Land Use application for the proposed developments.
When the city does receive a development application the proposed developments will be required to go through the city’s normal public engagement process, which includes a neighborhood meeting(s), Planning Commission and City Council.

According to Bethel, the southern end of the property, which features walking trails adjacent to Crepeau Nature Preserve, will remain a natural amenity for both Bethel and the surrounding community.
