At its July 8 regular meeting, the Arden Hills City Council
voted to extend the compliance to December 31 of this year for retailers to
stop selling all flavored tobacco products, following a March tobacco ordinance
amendment. The portion of the amendment that raised the legal age to purchase
tobacco products to 21 took effect July 1.
At its March 25 regular meeting, the council conducted a
public hearing and amended the city’s Tobacco Products Ordinance. The amendment
raised the legal age to purchase tobacco to 21 in the city effective July 1 and
banned the sale of flavored products (fruit, candy, gum, wintergreen, mint and
menthol) at all city retail establishments and tobacco shops.
