MVHS Traffic & Pedestrian Improvements

MVHS Pedestrian Safety Improvements on Lake Valentine Road

Project Overview

In May 2019, the City Council approved Planning Case #18-014 for building and site improvements at Mounds View High School. City Council approval included conditions that the School District perform a traffic and pedestrian study and implement safety measures to address the significant increase in pedestrian crossings of Lake Valentine Road by students using the parking lot north of the school building.

The traffic and pedestrian study determined twelve recommended improvements along Lake Valentine Road adjacent to the school.

Project Timing

The list of recommended site improvements will be presented to the City Council at the April 27, 2020 Regular City Council meeting in the form of an amendment to the Planned Unit Development Agreement for Mounds View High School.

Project Status to Date

March 30, 2022: Pedestrian safety is of the utmost importance to Arden Hills' leadership. The goal of this project on Lake Valentine Road in front of MVHS is to make the street safer for students. Construction is scheduled for summer 2022 after school is out and will be completed before the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year. A main feature of the new design is the inclusion of center concrete medians that enhance the effectiveness of the signalized crosswalk.
